How to get car insurance quote before you get the car!

Options
Hi,

I am looking into buying a camper van, and thought that I would try and get a ball park figure of insurance before I made the investment. The thing is, all of the comparison sites need the registration of the car before you can even start getting a quote. Is there any way around this at all?

I just want a vague ball park, as I know the final figure will be vehicle specific.

Thanks!

Dave

On cars there is normally a way of selecting the make/model/year etc,

I suspect campers are maybe a bit more specialised than that so you may need a specialist broker

I have my motorhome insured with Sureterm, I think the quotation system is realtime-online as far as I can remember.

You should be able to input model details instead of registration details as a lot of motorhomes are not correctly listed on the dvla systems anyway.

On comparison sites there's a choice to either input reg or to tick a box saying you haven't bought the car yet. It then allows you to go on and choose the make/model/year of the car.
I got ball park figures this way last year before we bought our new car.

I know for car ins you dont need the reg number as it gives you an option to say not bought the car yet

If you know what type of one you want e.g Ford transit based or peugeot based and what sort of size ,look on ebay or auto trader or similar and you are bound to find one showing the reg number

just put that number in when asked
this will give you a good idea

I did it before I bought my car ,worked a treat ;)
