wireless connection

hi all.now thanks for the help on here in setting up my wireless broadband,i bought the linksys system that was on offer in pc world,.i have been pleased with the result so much so that i have purchased another adaptor so i can set my daughters computer up for her,or so i thought.do i have to hard wire her computer to the gateway before it will work?her computer hasn,t had a broadband connection on it at all.i installed the adaptor ok but it keeps dropping the connection,it says adaptor connected to access point but the internet cannot be found then it changes and reads adaptor cannot connect to access point.any ideas are welcome.allso how do i let her connect to my computer?thanks in advance.
