Hi Lexilex, you say you have 5yrs experience studying psychology. I totally agree with those who say now is not the time to throw it away. You are at the beginning of your career, it may be a slow start but is far to early to give up on it yet.
You say there have not been many assistant pychologist jobs in your local area. You should definitely be looking country wide. It sounds to me as if you may be setting your sights a bit low. Where are these professional jobs advertised? is there a journal of pschology you could subscribe to where people might be advertising. Make your CV stand out, is there voluntary work you could do that would be useful? What about further qualifications. are you interested in working with young people for example? If so, a pgce might be a could combination, you could teach and gain experience for jobs working in young people's services.

Pinkclouds - I never offered packages, I worked on a bespoke basis but weddings don't float my boat at all and I cannot get googly eyed over the lastest bit of tuille or so and so's wedding dress. It is a lot of very hard work for less than minimum wage. I love the teambuilding and the networking events and exhibitions that I organise far more than weddings. Today, I have been doing some admin work for one of my regular clients (yep, even I have to turn my hand to other things to make some money) and now I am back doing my own work and shall probably still be emailing at midnight and drawing up plans for more events.

OP - there was something on the BBC website today, Deborah Meaden was passing on some wise words about tailoring your CV to the job for which you are applying don't use the same CV over and over again. Also you should apply for jobs where you can do 75% of the tasks involved, the rest you can learn on the job so to speak.
