Don't bother even responding to the poster - they have a grievance with me because they are a company rep who did not follow the board rules and register themselves.
They were reported by me and Freddie and spat their dummy out :rotfl:“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
Well, my gears are still dodgy to the extent that if I set them at anything other than 2+3, the chain slips when I exert any pressure (so going uphill, or standing to get a bit of speed). I even injured myself thanks to the chain slipping while I was standing.
I'm going to take it back up, but it would it be unreasonable to (politely but firmly) tell them what will happen: so they will check the gears again; they will phone me when they've fixed them; I will come and test the bike in the car park; if I feel the gears still aren't right, they will refund me.
Also, I paid by credit card: am I covered by the Consumer Credit Act? So if it comes to it, and they refuse a refund, I can just leave the bike and accessories there and claim my money back from HBOS (card issuer)? And actually, on that: would it just be the bike that's covered (because it was over £100), or is it the entire sale?0 -
Well, things are no better.
I yet again had to take the bike back for repair. They again claimed they'd fixed it, but when I went to collect it the problems were still there. So I was stood for over an hour on Sunday while they attempted to repair the (supposedly working) bike. Eventually, they just kept it again for another overnight repair.
I collected it again on Monday and all seemed well: I cycled round the car park and the gears were fine, so I took it home. But again this morning the gears started slipping and the chain wouldn't engage on the correct cog, both front and rear.
To cut a long story short, I took it to an indie retailer who has since called me back with a long list of faults, which were either inherent or actually caused by the Halfords mechanics while attempting to make their "repairs". I'm just waiting to collect the written version of the report, and I'll contact Halfords again.
I'm still not convinced they'll be keen on giving me a refund. So I'm wondering: what's the procedure for a Section 75 claim (I bought it with a Bank of Scotland credit card)? Do I have to return the bike, request a refund but leave it anyway if the refuse? Or do I need to do everything in writing?0
