OS Daily Tuesday 12th April

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 12th April 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

If I have missed the thread (did search for it honestly!) then please feel free to delete. Yes I was Sistercas, hope you have a great day! Otherwise - what is everyone doing - enjoying the sunshine? Morning all! Gorgeous sunny day here in Yorkshire again, first load of washing out on the line, another load about to spin and another load waiting (saga of wet beds and going to visit MIL yestersay - no washing got done!). Boys sound hyper already (oh joy!) but am just ignoring them. All my ebay selling ends tomorrow so wondering what I'll get for various items - and how on earth I'm going to package them safely!!

Today will be a day of cleaning up, clearing away little things that need doing and generally clearing the decks, just because we need to. Tea will be mince - we ended up having fish & chips at MILs yesterday - not so good for diet, but I don't think she'll be around much longer. Must open the little greenhouse for my plants so they get some fresh air, and depending on the weather forecast might have to cover up my seeds tonight. Hope it will rain soon - the garden needs it. Must walk the dog and will see what I can make so I don't have to go to the shop - love the holidays, but the children just eat sooooo much!! Am chained to the oven!

Morning all I am up with the larks this morning .Today I am going to London with my DD to see the matinee of Phantom of the Opera this afternoon, with lunch first at a nice Italian restaraunt first. It is part of my birthday present that my DD gave me in February.Last year we went to see The Jersey Boys and had a really lovely day, so today hopefully will be just as nice.
The sun is shining already but its a little cooler today.I took my little grandsons to the park yesterday, and we all had a good time, with the boys climbing about the trees and Granny reading her book in the sunshine.its suprising how much fun can be had for very little outlay. My youngest three grandsons are 6,9 & 11 and are still at the age where they like going to parks.have been quite frugal and stayed away from the shops and managed with what I have in the freezer this week.I brought quite a bit back from our holiday so see no point in loading up any more just yet.I am going to see how far I can go before I actually need to shop this week.definitley not today and probably not until friday when I may need some fruit and veg but meals are freezer roulette at the moment .
I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather I managed to get all of my washing and iroing done and dusted by last night from the weekend so no more of that this week either .right time for some tea and toast I think
    Have a good day everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx

Bright but chilly today. We had some rain last night , my poor garden needs much, much more.
Looks like it could be a damp Easter on the horizon.

Got to make an appointment at the opticians today - dread how much my glasses are going to cost now

Expecting some parcels today DD is home so she can take them in if I decide to go out.

Got to call DS in a while because he has put his hand up to go in for extra lessons for the next 3 days, I think that he is starting to worry about his exams now that they are close.

Well must get some Housework done BFN x

    Morning all

Bright and sunny here again this morning, but was like this yesterday then clouded over and was horrid by 5pm, tried to rain and then brighten up again later.

DH up and gone into work but not at stupid early o'clock, so he brought me a nice cup of coffee in bed. House is very quiet as boys at MIL, will collect them tonight when I finish work. DS1 has Cadets so tea will be quickies all round. Must remember tonight to get the lamb out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow's dinner. Dinner last night was fish.

Work was busy again yesterday think that's just going to be the ongoing theme at the moment, obviously it's a bit more of a challenge too as colleagues are taking holidays etc. Just working today then have half day's holiday tomorrow - hoping weather holds so can do some jobs in the morning then get out on our bikes for a while in the afternoon - will see what the forecast is and go from there.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning All,

It is bright and sunny here this morning. No plans for the day, think we'll be at home though, and maybe go to the park this afternoon if it is dry. Will go collect MIL and take her with us if we do, she could do with the fresh air, if not, we will just go visit her, I think. I too am trying for a no spend week, I will need eggs and milk, but that should be it, I hope. Will do an inventory in a wee while and see what I can do this week. My boys also have hollow legs during the hols esmf.

Off to start FLYing, it should be straightforward and my hall and livingroom are looking good, so I can continue with my kitchen declutter from yesterday, I have empties two cupboards and need to sort them out - I ran out of steam yesterday :o

Have a good day everyone. Hugs Spoons and Hi fives all round.

    Morning all!

The sun is back today, cacophony of creatures bleating and chirping and crowing and mooing outside, and yippee I feel normal today - well as normal as I get, blood pressure must have righted itself :)

Today I've said I'll take dd3 swimming, ds wants dropping off in the other direction entirely and dd2 and dd1 want to get paint for their rooms - both have tidied like mad so I can't really say no - but the shops are in yet another direction! Oh the joys of living in the sticks! No work today as it's my normal day off, mad how I felt guilty about being off ill though, but seems the norm really, feeling bad if you can't get to work! Only another 7 weeks though I think, and then maternity leave starts, well actually I have to fit in 6 weeks hols before I start my maternity leave, but it means I get a nice break to sort everything before spudette's arrival!

Aside from ferrying kids around I shall be cleaning under and behind the sofas - sure the mess will raise my blood pressure nicely for me, perhaps I should have done it when I wasn't feeling great lol! Other than that it will be the normal round of bm, wm, hoovering, wiping etc! Want to chuck some sweet dough in the bm and make some iced buns too, not made any for ages and just fancy some! Though not sure we need them, as the 2 packs of ys hot cross buns have reappeared magically, after vanishing to who knows where, they'll prob get munched for brekkie though!

dd1 had a lovely birthday yesterday, she loved all her pressies and we had a takeaway in the evening. I'm just a wee bit jealous of her main pressie, a fab retro Roberts radio in pink! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes - duly passed on, and she says thanks too, and that me and my cyber pals are all mad, can't imagine why she thinks that?!

Lunch today will be remains of the vat of tom sauce I made yesterday - apparently proper pasta sauce! Suspect they quite enjoyed the fresh herbs that were in it, they don't retain their taste so well after freezing, and usually I pull a pot from the freezer lol! Don't think that there will be any for the freezer, as the kids were dipping in it all day yesterday!

Dinner will be something easy that uses up whatever is lurking in the fridge, so poss pork and rice or chicken based, will do a veg option for dd1.

Have a good day all xx

Thanks for starting the thread Esmf. I always worry when I start the thread as I don't want to double post. You done good gal! Hope you have a good drying day - sounds like you need it x
Oh SisterCas hope your back eases quickly. Enjoy some rest and recouperation.
JackieO your park day sounds lovely. Have a great day with your DD today and enjoy your Italian meal.
BB our garden also needs a great deal of rain. Hopefully it will be the sociable sort and occur overnight ;)
    Morning to all that follow

I had my 3 DGSs here along with 2DGDs, so they played in the garden. DD2 and I organised an Easter egg hunt in the garden and the forecast rain held off until evening, so that was sociable of it. All of the children were really excited to join in - even the really cool teenager (14). I had stashed mini eggs in batches of 5 for each clue, so he wasn't going to be left out of "goodies", but he wanted to be part of the clue solving :)
The grandchildren love seeing each other (as do all the adults) and we all really enjoy the big family meals together. DH cooked a BBQ for 12.
DS has decided to re-arrange his plans in order to stay an extra day :)
That means we will be 12 again tonight for dinner - meatballs & linguine. Lunch will be soup made with all the leftovers.

Happy Tuesday peeps, hugs to those who need or want.
    Cheers m'dears, Silver x

    morning!

off to work after lunch for a late shift so doing a few jobs this morning.
DH at work and picking up DS2 on his way home as he stopped at a friends last night and is working later. I'm going to cook them a mini fry up with all the odds and ends in the fridge.

WM is on and I'll hang it out later as its nice and sunny.

Am looking forward to Friday as my Mum is coming up for a few days - not seen her since the beginning of March when she moved to Devon, she's stopping with my uncle and Aunt as she's helping him out with Lifeboat Flag Day - he took over as treasurer from Mum when she moved. I'm working all weekend but hope to manage a nice meal out with her and a few coffees when she's here.

Sistercas - hope your back issoon better x

Mummysaver - good luck with cleaning under the sofa!:D

    JackieO - have a great day out ! x
