I've got a feeling when this stops I will ration my stash, will obsessively make it last as long as possible, and will be tighter than ever when it comes to grocery shopping. Will feel ripped off paying more than a quid at checkout :o

I know the feeling.....i refuse to pay full price in Tesco right now, even if i don't have my voucher with me i will go back and get it!! This has just opened my eyes at how much we as the customer get ripped to shreds!!
  • Haha i know what you mean, my life seems to revolve around tesco, soon as hubby gets home from work in the evening im standing there with my vouchers ready for him to take over with the kids so i can head off to get my fix!!! Then il get home, catch up on this thread, go to bed and dream about flippin DTD!!!

My OH has actually told me off now because at 2.30 am this morning I apparently had a conversation with him in my sleep about 'receipts for the chicken'........................

I always do two shops on the belt, one after the other. I always pay debit card for the first and cash for the second.
Only once was I questioned, I told them one was for work and the other for home. This was before the DTD thing, it was when I was grabbing at lot of deals and using spend and save sains* vouchers and printed coupons.

I think they must be used to the quirkiness of some of their customers by now lol.

I agree with all these posts what has really brought it home to me is bread.

we go through a fair bit, a loaf every day on average.

Now then a split loaf is Mr T £1.20 Mr A .80. How can Mr T justify charging .40p more for a loaf it bakes on site. I dont beleive its ingredients are any better or that it has higher overheads or pays staff more?

As said by many before and after me.....This has opened my eyes to ALL supermarkets tactics.

    Regards

I say Tesco found it EASY to make promises it still cannot keep.

Let me tell you a little story about OH....He had a £94 voucher left to use and had treated me to a kindle the other day, decided he wanted his own. Anyway, he had to be in Leeds last night so popped to one on the way (out of town he said) Anyway, had problems with the voucher and had to be somewhere at a set time, the sa walked off with his voucher for ages so he had to walk out leaving the voucher.

Sooo, he went back after his appointment, managed to get his voucher back and went to the electrics counter, the male sa said actually, 'wouldn't you prefer the 3G one?'

'No', he says, 'I'm happy with the wifi one. '

'Well', says the the SA, 'I have a 3g one here that I had to open for a customer to have a look, nothing wrong with it, just had to reduce it, so you can have it for £130 if you want it.'

'Hmmm,' say's OH, 'no I'll leave it thanks.'

'Ok, tell you what, I'll through in a 3 year accidental warranty with it!'

    S'old,' says OH.

So he get's his voucher out, 'Oh' say's SA, 'not sure if I can do it with that'....2 managers later, yes he can use it, but there is a problem with the way that the voucher is printed as it's done on a screen dump as work doesn't print them out properly, so no, they can't take it.

I' know', say's SA, 'why don't you come in the back office and print it off again', OH goes in back, logs on, finds the email and THE POWER GOES OFF! At 10pm everything shuts down as that's what time electrical dept closes.

So, SA finds him another computer, wont connect to the internet, so OH uses his phone to provide a Wifi hotspot, but he's fast runnig out of phone battery...can't get the password to work, down to 4% battery, realises CAPs lock is on, finally connects, where shall I send to print it?
'Oh, I forgot about that' says SA, ends up pulling a printer out of a box and installing it! Finally prints off and he get's the Kindle. He said the SA was great and should have finished at 10pm, I said he should ring up and praise him but he doesn't want it to backfire and SA get in trouble if they find out exactly what he did.
