The supermarket giant Tesco is examining facial recognition technology that could help it recognise high-value shoppers and shoplifters, according to NEC.
NEC senior marketing coordinator George Gimenez told ZDNet UK at the Unified Communications (UC) Expo 2011 in London that Tesco is interested in the technology, called Neoface, because it could help the company identify its top customers as they walk into a branch. Once recognised, those customers would then be offered a personal shopper, he said.
Tesco is also keen on using Neoface to make sure that shoplifters banned from one store would be quickly identified and ejected when they visit another branch, Gimenez suggested.
Tesco had not provided comment on its plans to use facial recognition technology at the time of writing.

err ... I don't have a scanner on my computer?? He was totally confused, I kept telling him to take it with him back to the store but he really didnt want to, kept saying he'd probably lose it  In the end he agreed to take it but wrote down my order number, name and address on it, gave me head offices phone number and the stores number to call in case he got it wrong, asked me to call the store later to check it was all ok, bless him he was really flummoxed, to the point that I was then getting confused, but can someone please confirm that I did the right thing and he should have taken it with him back to the store??

So much so that we went all the way home and got passports, just so we could buy 2 free bottles. So angry seriously i think this is a real issue of discrimination. 2 26yo, teacher and doc try to buy a bot of wine in the evening! Livid! Silverburn twice... no issues.
