Went to a store I rarely use, and for the first time in a few weeks had slight hiccups.

SA wasn't sure what to do and said about checking numbers; when she couldn't reconcile she said she'd ask Supervisor, I said no bother, better to be sure you are doing it right (side with them it makes it easier).

Supervisor knew exactly which numbers were expected to be wrong (time and missing digit), then they went through without issue.

I'm intrigued as one poster yesterday afternoon (lost in the speed of this thread) said they'd had a N/A on the Wolf Blass Chardonnay , which concerned me as I want to get some more of this - did they really buy the Chardonnay and it came back as N/A, was it an isolated incident, can anyone who bought it yesterday report back later on when your vouchers come through as to whether it is still safe to buy?
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

  • I Suspect Tesco will clamp down at some stage, so be familiar with the fair use policy found here:

    https://www.tescopricecheck.com/PriceCheck/Pages/faqs.aspx

Essentially, if the manager/assistant feels you are going against the 'spirit' of the deal, they can refuse to accept your voucher. Ie, don't be caught at self service putting through 10 separate transactions ;) And you are only meant to use 1 voucher per day, so again, they could refuse to accept any more, and some report staff insisting they swipe their clubcard.

I do think the offer will stay, as it's only a tiny % of people who could be accused of 'abusing' the fair price policy - most shoppers will not even know of DTD, let alone spend hours checking an online spreadsheet every day which location keeps changing, and shopping each day to take advantage of this offer.

And now the other big one - you are not saving the amount that is on the voucher, you are not up this amount of money! If you get a £20 voucher, you are up £10, not £20 (the first £10 is what you would have been up, had you shopped at asda). The same is if you get £100 vouchers in a month - you are up £50!. This of course is not a bad thing, but you should be aware of the correct amount so you don't end up spending more than you expected. Also be wary of the prices, unless DTD gives you the product for next to nothing (or pays you) it might still be cheaper to shop elsewhere!

Tesco would look like complete numptys if they stopped the DTD now.

I think it's safe to say we can expect this to continue in the near future.

I hope so... I am away for over two weeks from next Thursday and would love it to be still on when I come back... :p But for now I'm stocking up to take all the expensive goodies for my family abroad :j(bombay, bacardi, baileys, wine lol)

Not being argumentative, honest :), but is it really that hard to track IP's? I know when I buy from certain companies online they tell me what my IP number is...

Surely with all T's billions they must be able to afford a programme that highlights how many times an IP is used?

I work for a giant company in IT, so probably well placed to comment.
I'd suggest that Tesco will probably be spending so much time expanding and developing new ways to make money that filling the holes like this will not get much focus.
It will be very much a case of getting things in as quickly as possible to make more wonga. They tend to only worry about this sort of thing when it becomes a serious problem for them, or they're made to do something about it by legislators.
