Take the set top box and modem (if you have one) with you, write to them with your new address and ask for the box to be collected (and remind them the contract is terminated). Do not under any circumstances be tempted to flog the box on, either on ebay or in the pub, the box is NTL property and if you sell it on you will be done for dealing in stolen goods.

They don't tend to shout about it unless there's specific circumstances, but plenty of people have been done for selling their old subscription box on ebay.

There is a major problem at NTL which is being fueled by their failure to recover the old out-of-subscription set top boxes, most engineers work for Cobra and can't be bothered to collect the boxes but NTL are starting to send people out to collect the boxes because of the "problem".

If you want to cut the wire feel free, outside your house on the wall is a brown box, open it up and the telephone wires are in there (the big thick black or brown one is the TV/Broadband one, don't cut that), think they are green and yellow for the phone, very thin wires, snip the green one and that'll stop the phone working (or if you won't want to cut it, just remove it from the junction - it'll be obvious what to do).

...err but do remember that when the phone rings some of those wires become energised with 75v AC, so do it carefully! Plus never cut more than one wire at any one time as you may short them out with the tool you are using to cut!

NTL are b@stards. To be honest the internet service they provide has always been very good, but if anything should go wrong then God help you!

They recently 'upgraded' my internet line and it ceased to work. Unbelieveably the call centre (0870 number) said the ONLY thing I coudl do was ring their Tech service @ £1-odd per minute! It was their fault at their end and they forced me to pay them to get it repaired!

What annoyed me even more that when I raised a complaint to ICTIS they found on the side of NTL! Waste of time, both companies.
Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345
    Debt free 21st Oct 2011.

    All thanks to :money:
