Hi Guys and Gals,
We are moving house tomorrow and friday and we arranged two weeks ago with NTL that they would dissconect us today as we cant transfer to the new area as there is no cable on that street.
They arranged that they would come today between 8-1 and at 2pm michelle rang them to see where they were as she has drawn the hort straw having to wait in for them.
They looked on the system and said that a engineer would be with us definatly before 1pm today and not to worry.
She pointed out that it was now 2pm to which he said there late then.
Another phone call to them from collections and they say to shell that they only do pick ups on Tues and Fri and they will come next tusday when there will be noon there.
I will take the box with me and advise them with the new adress is this acceptable?
Also the house will have new tenants /Lanlord in it o i dont want them to use the phone line and we have to pay there bill .
Can NTL charge us once we have moved as we advised them two weeks ago that we would be out on Friday.
Sorry to waffle on .
I look foward to your feedback and suggestions.

if ntl arranged an appointment to collect and could not collect then its their problem. I would DEFINITELY advise that you take the box with you as they have started billing people stupid money for non return of their boxes.
the people that collect the boxes dont work directly for NTL and are on basic plus commission so thats why they told you they only collect on scetain days (lazy gits)0 -
I just think that the whole sinareo (sp?) Is A Load Of Old S!!T as Nan Taylor on The Catherine Tate Show would say.
Would you reccomoend cutting the phone line so that no calls are made when we have moved out?:j WILL GET THERE SOON :j

no i would not recommend cutting the phone line (not indoors anyway) as you could get billed for the repair0 -

I had a similar thing with NTL, where I moved out before the end of the notice period - I spoke to actually a helpful person at NTL (yes, they do exist!) who arranged for the phone line to be disconnected at noon on the day I was moving out.
Having said that, they never collected the box back - after a year I chucked it!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Iwould send a recorded delivery letter to them, stating you informed them you were moving-they were supposed to pick box up and didn't, there will be no-one to pick it up when they said they will come, and that as from friday you will not be liable for any bills/calls made from that house as you won't be there, it is there problem, and keep a letter for your own records to go back to.official dfw nerd club member no 214
Proud to be dealing with my debts!;)

when i moved into my flat i had someone knock on the door (about 2 weeks after i moved in) they were asking for the ntl box, i said i just moved in and had no box, they asked if the previous people had left, when i said no they just ok no prob and went!.....there was also a phone line still going, i was using it with out realising it was still the old tenants number, again lasted about 2 weeks0
