Parking in Uxbridge for Tube Transfer

Hey all

Was on here last week trying to figure out the best way for us to get to London cheaply as we need to go to the Irish Embassy on Monday 18th.

We've now decided that, as we promised our 3 year old we would take her to Legoland Windsor this year, we would kill two birds with one stone, save £80 on petrol costs, and drive down from North Wales (Rhyl) on the Sunday morning, spend the day in Legoland (have 241 vouchers), stay over in a Travelodge (anyone have any cheaper suggestions?) then in the morning (Monday) head to Uxbridge Tube, park up and get the tube to Knightsbridge, do the embassy thing first thing, go to the Natural History Museum for a couple of/few hours then head home again.

SO, my main question at the moment is how hard is it to get parking at Uxbridge? I've looked at the Tube car park list but it isn't on it...

Failing Uxbridge, where else is good for safe parking for the day, close to a Tube station? Bearing in mind we have a 3 year old on foot. I'm happy to drive wherever but our goal is Knightsbridge and I don't want to pay the congestion charge.

Thanks!!! :T

Hillingdon tube station has a big carpark. Just about a mile out of Uxbridge and next stop on the tube.

Also on the A40/M40 for a quick getaway. :D

Forget Uxbridge, the centre where the station is is pedestrianised and the rest of the immediate area is residents parking only or 2 hour maximum in bays or on meters.

Hillingdon advice is the way to go.

Thanks guys! I think we're actually going to go with West Hounslow, the station is almost 39 mins closer to Knighsbridge and also only a mile from our hotel in Heathrow. The car park is big isn't it? And safe?

There are car parks in The Pavilion and The Chimes shopping centres, as well car par parks dotted around Uxbridge. You could try parking in a side street off Harefield Road or Cowley Road and walk. Hillingdon station is a good bet, but get there early, or you might find there is no more room. It is not cheap to park there either, about five pounds a day I think. You could drive in further and park at Ickenham or Ruislip (the station car parks are smaller but cheaper), you are more likely to find a street to park in, around there.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
