Hi

So pleased you are on here as I am going slightly mad. I am disabled claiming benefits and would like to take advantage of the BT BASIC.

I use the telephone rarely and my bill often includes more charges for being late than for actual calls.

If I apply can I keep the internet provider I have at the moment (not BT)

Will I need to remove all my friends and family add ons (which I dont use) before applying

Is the pdf on the bt site the most up to date as I dont want to make any mistakes with this ?

Really hope you can clear the waters for me

Regards

Tiler

    Hi Tiler,

If you would like more information on the BT Basic package take a look at the link below.

    http://www.bt.com/includingyou/other-products-services-bt-basic.html?s_cid=con_FURL_btbasic

With BT Basic it is not possible to have any of the Friends and Family add ons as BT Basic is just a basic line rental and call service. The cost of calls on BT Basic is 10.2p a minute plus a 3p charge per call.

    I hope this information helps.

    Cheers

Apologies..can i ask another question of BT rep?

Our annual BT line rental plus inclusive weekend/evening calls contract recently came up for renewal. as we didnt want another 12 month tie in,i got OH to ring and cancel and switch to the basic line rental plus weekends. The call handler was very rude and intrusive, grilling her on why she was cancelling, where was she moving to blah blah blah. She then blatantly lied and said that she couldnt do it now and could she ring back in a few days time. Presumably she didnt want to register a non retention on her call stats or similar?

Anyway..rang back a couple of days later and spoke to a man who did as we asked, asked a few questions but was courteous as one would expect.

we have since had quite a few calls from BT presumably marketing calls. I picked up on one of them and had an extensive chat about call packages/BB etc but re-iterated that we wished to retain our open ended line rental with no tie and my existing BB provider ..at least for now.

We are no getting the calls again. Can we get it stopped please?

I know what BT offers and i can compare it with others and decide what i want. If i want BT, I'll contact them.

Can I hijack this thread too for a second :o

I am moving home next week and will be canceling my BT phone line, I am moving to a rented home until I find a home I like (and reasonably priced) to be my permanent move. I would love to have broadband in my rental home as my kids are computer and Xbox mad and I will be having MSE withdrawl symptoms myself :o

The only services I seem to be able to get are 12 month contract ones:( I really don't intend to be renting for a year but it could be up to it until I get a new home. The rental apartment has a BT line in it already so is it possible to get unlimited broadband from BT without a contract ?
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

    Hi Steveymp,

It is not possible to have BT Broadband without agreeing to a 12 month term. It would be possible however to take your Broadband contract with you when you moved from your rented address to your new house. This would also likely mean you would have to enter into a 12 month contract to activate the telephone service at that address. I hope that helps.

    Cheers

You will still be charged late fees if you do not pay your BT Basic bills on time.
