Just about to buy 1.2 on a 52 plate , for my 18 yr old daughter, old chap selling due to him being too ill to drive, he has had it from new with only 37000 on the clock and will let it go for £600, but having read the horror stories about the easytronic am wondering if it is worth it. Surely they can't all be bad? Any advice much appreciated.

Like every car you read up about on the net - everyone will have a horror story and tell you to avoid for one reason or another.

However. We generally tend to avoid this type of auto as there are more elctrical items on them to go wrong rather than a normal auto box.

personally after working as a tech at vaux for a number of years i would avoid a corsa with this type of gearbox fitted.
it is essentially a standard manual been adapted with motors to operate clutch and select gears and are prone to going wrong.

you would be better off looking for a conventional manual or auto far more likely to be trouble free.

How easy would it be if at all to change it to a manual box?

impossible. however the car is only £600 so I would go for it and (if) it breaks and is uneconomical to repair scrap it and bu another car.

not impossible but uneconomical, all you would need is pedal box with clutch pedal and master cylinder,f13 cog swapper and linkage, slave cylinder, clutch and pipework.and finally a ecu and loom from manual version of corsa 12xe engine.

best off just buying a manual to start with as some people could not afford to spend £600 and potentially have to scrap and replace it a few months down the line.
