HFW Pot Noodles

Does anyone know where I can find the recipe for HFW pot noodles that were ion River Cottage? I can find the chorizo one, but not the rest. Are they only in his book?

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone made these with success? If so, what noodles did you use?

Would it work with the value 9p noodles?

    Thanks,

    Cait :)

    it says to use
1 nest of standard, thin, quick-cook egg noodles
when it was on the programme, they tested various types of noodles. The important part was that you were able to pour boiling water on, and leave it for 5-6 mins (in tupperware ) and for the noodles to be cooked by the end of it. They found the previous mentioned noodles cooked the best in this method (guessing because they were thin noodles)

Saying that, if they're only 9 p a packet, it wouldn't cost you a lot to try cooking them this way as an experiment :) Worst case scenario, you have to then put them in a pot to finish cooking, or you can't salvage them and waste 9p :)

Do report back if you try it out. I have egg noodles i got from the chinese supermarket which look pretty thin so I may try it out with those.:j

Good point, I'll give it a go! I can deal with losing 9p (although it won't be lost because I can just cook them and eat them anyway if they don't work with just soaking in boiling water. I'll let you know how I get on.

    It worked!!!

I broke up the 'nest' into 4 pieces, shoved them in a tupperware beaker, poured boiling water over to cover and put the lid on. 6 minutes later, perfectly cooked noodles (in fact, 5 mins would've done it). I tipped the water out though as there was too much but in future I could put a stock cube in and make a soupy base.

Very exciting, I might have a go at some of Hugh's recipes now for instant noodles. Thanks for the encouragement Zippy!

P.S. This was using Tesco value instant noodles (now 10p) without the 'curry flavouring' sachet.

Hmm interesting... I think it's just the 'flavourings' that you get with noodles which would make them unhealthy. Just had a look on the tesco website and did a quick comparison between a nest of noodles and a serving of pasta (spaghetti)

    Noodles: 217 cals, 1g sugar, 1g fat
    Spaghetti: 265 cals, 2g sugar, 1g fat

So I suppose they're no worse than pasta (which I would consider to be ok healthywise)... just gotta make sure I put lots of lovely veg in with them too!

The channel4 website has four river cottage instant noodle recipes, here's devilled crab, hot sweet and sour noodles as well as the curried and chorizo ones linked above.

    Noodles away!
