plastering quote

I recently got a quote for plaster a 3 bed terrenced house at 2500, not sure if this is a fair price.

The condition of the house is mixture, with some walls skimmed and painted (need to repaint), some wall just skimmed, few places with bare bricks (majorly around the bay and one partition wall, approx. a couple of m2 in total).

I am in south manchester so would appreciate any advice?

Also I am thinking of taking a builder to have a look at all neccessary work associated with the house, how much should I pay as an inspection/quotation fee?

Almost exactly what we paid (but in London) guy did a fantastic job. I would say seeing his work first and making sure you trust him is more important than the exact cost. It also depends what the guy(s) is/are doing we did all the prep so the guy just came in made good the chasing from the rewire etc and skimmed.

Most builders will quote for free although the good ones might charge to stop timewasters.

    Thanks Dave.

To be honest I feel hasitate to ask builders to inspect the house as I haven't got offer accepted yet. I don't want to take advantage of getting free advice from any of them, but it is hard to pay properly in such case.

We got loads of quotes before we bought our house. The builders didn't seem to mind the vendor got quite !!!!ed off through!

Just be straight with the people quoting. Say you are looking to buy the house and would like a quote for when you do buy it.

If they don't want to quote they will say no.
  • Get plenty of quotes from Plasterers. £2500 seems ok for a whole house, if your house is a small 3 bed then it may be a little high.if its a huge 3 bed then it may be to low. but as an average it seems fair.
