Hardwood Threshold

Hi,

We have recently completed an extension. We now have a set of internal french doors that are fitted in a blockwork wall with a cavity. We would like to fit a hardwood threshold in the door space however, the threshold would need to be 13" deep due to the size of the wall.

We cannot simply extend the flooring into the door space as it is an existing carpet (which covers the Lounge/Diner, hall stairs and Landing) and finishes at the line of the wall.

Does anyone know where I can get a threshold cut to this size, we would ideally like oak.

Many thanks

Mark

any decent timber merchants should be able to assist. However, you may need two thinner pieces to make up the 13".

I think he means 13" depth in the doorway.

    Hi lagi,

Yes I mean the depth in the doorway. Needs to be around 7mm thick x 330mm deep x 1170mm long

You will really struggle with those dimensions. The 330 should be ok as will be the 1170. But the 7mm? Very thin. You are normally looking at 18 or 25mm thickness for a threshold. If they are timber doors, then you would need to trim a bit off the bottom and have a raised threshold, or you need to make the receiving area under the doors to be deepened.
