Wood preserve for Roble table

I bought this table yesterday...http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=11418293&fh_location=//catal!!!1/en_GB/categories<{9372012}/categories<{9372023}/categories<{9211016}/specificationsProductType=benches&tmcampid=4&tmad=c&ecamp=cse_go&CAWELAID=821968667

It is made from Roble Wood and I have done some research and the result of that is that I will have to buy Roble Aftercare Wax

I live in Northern Ireland and it would be great to get that product here, but if I do have to get it posted over, does anyone know where I can get it?

Many thanks,
C

Wax is not generally water resistant. I would recommend using something similar to this for outdoor furniture.

Usually linseed oil or similar provides the best protection but is not suitable for roble wood.

I haven't used the above product and so cannot recommend it but I would have thought this type of finish will offer better protection than wax.

Thanks. If you do a search for Roble and preserving it there is a whole debarcle. If I use the product you recommended or any product for that matter would I be entitled to compensation etc of it didn't work?

There was a debate about cuprinoal. Their products were not recommended by them for Roble wood but then..."I emailed Cuprinol to ask about using Stay New on Roble and they said that they've tested it over the past 6 months and are now happy to recommend it"

    Sigh

Sorry for bumping this up. Just hoping that someone out there has Roble garden furniture.

    Try this :http://www.wood-finishes-direct.com/products/wood-finishes/exterior-finishes/osmo-wood-stain-protector.htm

Its very common for manufacturers to say what Not to use purely to promote their own brands.I would try Osmo as its a decent product and says on the tin its suitable for Roble wood.......Must add Ive been a joiner for 25 years and Ive never heard of Roble wood , had to google it ...lol

The product says its suitable for Roble wood so if there was a problem you should be covered. The problem is proving it but that said even if you used Roble aftercare and there was a problem they would still try and wrigle out of paying up...My advice would be its not like its a really expensive table so bite the bullet and go for OSMO..........good luck..

Edit: seems ive just recommended the same stuff as Debacle, lol so we must be right ........;)

It looks like that is the only option. I have emailed Cuprinol aswell, so hopefully they get back to me today. Thanks again.

For anyone else in Northern Ireland I have reserved a tin of OSMO at painterschoice.co.uk in Carryduff.

I will post here after a coating the table and let you know if the actual product is good.
