Halfords vent and praise

Went looking for a scooter the weekend for the youngest so popped into Halfords in Shirley. Found the perfect one, even better reduced to £20. Wife went to desk, yes we show them in stock hold on
Assistanct came back and sorry I cant find them, so I asked if i could have the display model, only to be told no not policy. At that point I said so how come if you dont have any in sotck and cant sell that one you even bother to put it on display? If you show stock and cant find them just how accurate is your blooming system??
On the way home popped into Halfords Redditch, same one on display at £25, so asked if they had stock and he said yes, so I joked it was £5 cheaper in shirley, no worries says the assistant if it comes up more expensive I will know the £5 off.
Luckily it was £20 jsut not updated the shelf price
My big annoyance is why bother having something on the shelf if you have no stock, and will not sell the display one?

Ive never found Halfords helpful at all - on numerous occasions. The last time I had recourse to go into a Halfords branch was to ask if they could advise on a problem with a pump for inflating bicycle tyres. "BRING IT IN THEY SAID, BUT WE WILL CHARGE FOR IT" . . . despite the fact I had bought two bikes from them only a year ago.
Seems they were not efficient enough to diagnose the problem instore, despite the fact there are only two universal types of valve on, and it was a run of the mill handpump . . . and despite the fact the branch had a service and repair department in the shop!0 -
The best time I had in Halfords was when I was buying alloys. Instead of pricing their own Ripspeed rubbish down, they priced the Wolfrace alloys I'd looked at down by 2/3rds..... Total mistake and happens, but they very nicely honoured it for me!
The worst would be getting them to mix up paint for the car- gave them the correct code, watched him make it and add different colour combo- he'd flashed up the code before, and paint was totally different. Had waited 30 mins on it too. Still, the super was on that day, and told us they'd only dispose of it, so let us have it free- did for old alloy refurb.
The ones near me aren't particularly good, but do know quite a few of the staff. They're as helpful as they can be, but don't seem to have much to work with- the reference system they work off is rubbish!0
