E.on gas bill - is this correct?

Options
I got a bill from E.on (This is a final bill as I have switched from them).

The meter reading charge was from 3206 (opening reading) to 3210 (closing reading) so 4 points.

They are charging me £8.20 (including VAT)

They say I have use 126 killowat hours, but isn't that 4? If I am wrong, then what does each single unit on my gas meter equal to?

According to their website: Normal units first 2680kWh per year 6.80715p per kW

    Hi confusedmummy,

So, you have used 4 units of gas from the meter readings you have taken.

You then need to convert this in to kWh, as this is how you are billed.

Take the units used (4) times this by 2.83
    Times by 1.022643 (conversion factor)
Times by the calorific value (this should show on your bill, but normally 39.1 or 39.2
    Divide by 3.6
    = kWh

Then you can times the kWh used by the unit cost.

This will give you the amount used in money.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need any more info.

    Helena :)

The units on a gas meter are either in cubic feet (ft3 on meter) or cubic metres (M3 on meter) which then has to be converted to kwh using a formula show on the bill. You should always ensure both the meter and bill show the same units (ft3 or M3) otherwise your bill will be calculated incorrectly.

For elec its easy as the units on a meter are already in kwh.
