Credit Card Direct Debit - Quick Question

Just a really quick question, i have direct debits set up to pay the full balance on two credit cards, last month i lent my parents some money and although they said they would give it back to me this month, they have now said they need another month.

As a result I am a little short this month and could really do without paying the full balance on the credit cards.

Is there a way i can alter the direct debit for this month only so that it pays the minimum payment, with it reverting back to the full balance next month, or is it a case of cancelling it with my bank this month, pay the minimum manually and then set up a new one next month?

Ideally i could just phone up the CC companies and tell them to just take the minimum this month, is this possible? FYI the companies are Cap 1 and Creation.

I think the best thing to do is call the CC companies and ask them to change the DD to minimum for this month only and then back to full amount from next month. You can certainly do this with CC's which you manage on line.

I think there is probably time to make the change if you contact them today, although some companies do say 14 days but if you don't ask you won't know for certain.

Thanks Denise, I called them and have changed it to the minimum, dont trust them to remember to change it back after this month though so will give them a call and make sure at the end of the month!

Have also paid the minimum via online payment just in case something has gone wrong during the alterations!
