Hello
Have posted once before about my situation but have been waiting for a reply from VCS. My situation is that I parked outside Leeds college of art on Sunday night in February. I was not aware that I was parking on private land and I was not aware of the signs. I consequently was issued with an £80.00 PCN. I appealed and heard nothing from VCS for almost a month when they issued me with notification of intent to take me to court unless I paid an increased penalty of £120.00. I duly wrote back requesting clarification why they had not acknowledged and formally reviewed my appeal, to which they promptly sent me a 'copy' of the letter they claim they had sent me! They have now given me until 14th of April to pay the lower sum of £80.00. Having read all the threads on this site and many more I am very tempted not to pay. However, I have spoken with two separate solicitors (free legal advice sessions) who have both advised me to pay up as I am in breach of contract as the signs are clearly visible.
Any advice and does anyone know of anyone who has been taken to court by ECXEL/VCS??
Many thanks

No disrespect to your solicitor friends, but obviously they don't practice this side of the law, now go to the link below and educate yourself to what these invoices are, ask your friends to view it also

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
One stooge case from three years ago by Excel/VCS = Stephen Thomas case, which is so rare, questionable and unusual it's not worth bothering about. It was a person who parked in the same place multiple times, ignoring requests by the landowner (Church) not to park there as they needed the spaces. Then someone calling themselves 'Stephen Thomas' posted on a website saying he was the driver, then in Court lied about that. Judge wasn't impressed and quite possibly the whole thing - or at least the forum posts - were a set-up!
Why were you 'waiting for a reply from VCS?' They are hardly going to allow an 'appeal' are they, there's no such thing?! It's obvious what their answer will be each time. But presumably you've told them who was driving haven't you = silly mistake, we advise completely ignoring these scumbags.
Those solicitors gave bad advice though IMHO, why would you pay these cowboys? Here's the correct advice from a Solicitor who knows his stuff (Tim Cary):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA
If you were not aware that you were on private land and genuinely saw no signs then you cannot possibly have entered into any contract. It's simple, surely, but then what do I know as I don't have a Law degree...did those clever solicitors even ask if the signs were illuminated (it was a Sunday night in February and therefore dark!).
Just ignore them and come back if you are concerned. Threats of Court are part of the usual letter-chain and mean nothing - but if you did actually get sealed Court papers then don't ignore them, come back for advice. There have been a handful of attempts at Court by PPCs in recent years and there's a robust defence available if ever you need it.
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I received a ticket yesterday for parking on a single yellow line on the May Day bank holiday. Like a lot of other people I thought it didn't apply on Bank holidays. However upon checking the markings where it goes from double yellow lines to a single line. The T part is mainly missing. I have read somewhere that if the markings don't comply with the regulations, then I cannot commit the offence. Does anybody know what words to write on the appeal in relation to this.0

[STRIKE]Oopsadaisy[/STRIKE], taffo this is second or third thread I have seen your flippant answers on here , you are driving people away from here, don't bother answering if you can't be bothered to answer questions when asked!
And don't give that old pony about people should read the stickies, yes they should, but if they want to ask questions it's their right to, the reason they ask because this is new to them, it's getting irritating seeing your condescending replies to people !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
