Boiler cover as a landlord

I'm just getting myself ready to rent my flat out for the first time since it failed to sell...
I'm trying to cover myself as much as possible by getting the boiler/ heating covered. I know British Gas do landlord cover, but I have also found something called Omni Assist. Anybody heard of them? Their prices seem almost too good to be true and I can't find anything about them online.
Thanks!

My old Landlord used Bg. I know i lot of people on here moan about them but I always found them brilliant the few times we had problems. Don't know about the costs but from a tenet perspective I thought they Very good.0

Never heard of them. Compare the cover carefully, esp for call out times and exclusions. I presume you're looking at the landlords premium cover at £18.50 that includes the safety certificate ?
Check out Landlordzone for other providers (for this and many other things like insurance, contracts, inventory clerks etc).
And read this post for a comprehensive list of sources if you need them (though you sound as if you're basically sorted)0 -
Not sure if I am correct but if you have a mortgage on your flat, doesn't this have to be altered if you rent it out? I know that when a family member bought a house to rent out, they had to have a specific mortgage for that.0

OP specifically asked about boilers so not sure why you picked out mortgages, the mortgage company will have to be told but that does not always mean it has to change
there are many other things need doing when you rent out but the OP has not asked for advice on general issues
personally I use BG - yes it is expensive, I could certainly get cheaper elsewhere but at the end of the day it is very convenient to be with them as both I and the tenants know how to contact them, know what they will look like and have reasonable expectations of their service
yes I get a lower profit because they cost more but hey ho its not always about squeezing the max profit from everything0 -
thanks to all who replied, especially G_M lots of useful info, thank you again!
Still deciding exactly what to do with the boiler, just about got everything else sorted now though (and yes my mortgage company do allow me to rent it out as it's been my main residence for a few years, but they will charge £95 a year!). Would still prefer to sell, but pretty much stuck with it for a while so I may as well cover some of my costs!0 -
when I rented he had British Gas - and they were so excellent when I bought I took cover with them myself.
I think you probably get what you pay for.0
