Vanquis Credit Card D/D - Pobbile Daft Question Alert!

Have just got a new Vanquis visa card -0 strictly for items where credit card protection is needed and emergencies ;)

I've had to set up a direct debit to make the payments (Cue drum roll for the daft question :D)

Will the D/D just be the minimum payment or the full balance? I'm aiming to make sure i either pay off in full each month or make a payment of 50%+ of the balance to avoid the interest charges so am concerned as to what they'll request from the bank each month.

Any advice welcome - Vanquis help pages are pants :(

Depends what you ask for, either take the minimum or full balance entirely up to you.

    Take the F/B I would

I think they always take minimum payment with the accumulated interest, can't remember being given that option to pay in full or minimum payment - but you could always setup the dd so a payment is not missed and pay more when you want to either by calling them or through the online app.

Don't go nuts on this card btw - i just used for the odd chinese etc.

If you've already set it up with Vanquis (and your post reads like you have) then they're the people to ask aren't they?

I find it strange they didn't confirm (on the phone?) whether it was for the minimum or full amount as you're usually given the option.

You can elect to pay the minimum payment or full balance by direct debit.

You suggest that you anticipate not being able to pay off the full balance every month, so it's probably sensible for you to set up a direct debit to pay the minimum, then pay any extra using online banking or Vanquis' own website.

Having said that, carrying a balance from one month to the next, especially on a Vanquis card, isn't very sensible. :)

Ring up Vanquis customer support on 0800 7816314
Get them to set up a full payment.

Write down the date and ring them back later to ensure they actually changed from minimum to full as they may 'forget' (happened to me).

If it's "just for emergencies" you really want to be paying the full balance off. You can always call them and ask to reduce the DD 10 days before it's paid or so.
