Carboot sale season has now started and you can get some good stuff there if you look carefully. I got a playnest last week for £1, a carrier/sling thing for £1 and quite a few clothing items for virtually nothing. So many people selling baby stuff at car boot sales!!!

    2) Get a base for your car seat. They make getting your baby in and out of the car so much quicker and easier. I got a Maxi-Cosi Easy Fit base. See below for how I saved money on this.

    3) Get as much as you can on ebay. For instance I wanted a Maxi-Cosi Easy Base for my Car Seat so I looked on Ebay. The only one I could find was being sold with a car seat (I already had a car seat) so I bid on it and sold the extra car seat which meant I paid £10 for a base that is usually £90 in the shops..
Hello, I am not pregnant yet but hope to be soon. I was wondering, can you use a base with any car seat? My sister has a base which came with her graco car seat, will this be compatable with any baby seat?
Also - these tips are really useful!

Hi sunshine, you have to buy a car seat which will be suitable for that base so the Graco base would fit a Graco car seat.

The most economical overall is the Maxi Cosi familybase because it accomodates the baby car seat (birth - 12m), the first stage car seat (12m - 4 years) then the high back booster (4-11 years) approx so you would only ever buy one base and a new maxi cosi car seat when needed.

Whereas most need to be changed with each seat.

Should also say that bases and car seats should not be bought second hand unless they are from someone you know and trust incase they have been damaged (even dropping can dislodge teh belts inside).
