bank account not closed after bankruptcy

just spoke with the ORs office and they confirmed they wrote to nat west and said they had no problem with me carrying on using the account, so they summised that nat west were ok with this. The woman then said that nat west could technically freeze the account and I asked on what grounds as Id fullfilled my obligations and would be released from bankruptcy when I started to use it. She couldnt answer this and in the whole didnt seem very knowledgeable. It was just a clerk though and not the OR who has now left and their replacement doesnt start till next week.0

Whether they should or not, Natwest have closed the accounts of some people in these circumstances without notice. That is despite the OR having written to them expressing no interest in the acount.
Right or wrong, fair or not, the sods have done it to people, which is why caution is advised.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

The banks unfortunately can do as they please, they do not have to let you have an account with them, hence the reason that there only 2 really BR friendly accounts out there. Whether you like it or not if you are ever asked have you been BR then you have to say yes, not fair I know but that is what we are stuck with at the moment.:pB&SC No. 298

I had an acc with hsbc with about 50p in it. I told the or and after discharge started to get statements for it so when I got a new job last year I started to use it. I don't have a cheque book because I didn't have one to begin with and tbh I use that as an excuse to use my dh's!
I didn't owe hsbc anything but I did owe first direct about £1.5k.
HthLead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
