Advice on credit cards and store credit

in Credit cards
Ive recently moved house and applied for a store credit account and new credit card, both which have been declined. Ive never had a problem with credit and never been refused. My credit score and rating are perfectly acceptable on two reccomended sites (one being experian). Some one said to me that if im not registered at my new adress on the electoral role, effectively, i dont exist and this could affect my chances. If anybody could help me with this matter and give as much info as they can, i would greatly appreciate it.
Many thanks
Ben

Do you own your house or rent?
Were you on electoral roll on previous house?
What debts do you have now?
Where do you do your main banking? Have you askd them about a credit card?0 -
I live with my mum at the moment, and yes i was on the electoral role at my last property. The finance company actually said the couldnt find me as being registered at my new adress. as for debts, i only have a credit card with around £400 and a mobile bill, both of which are paid every month, (and an extra weekly payment i pay of my own accord) on time without any issues. never missed a payment.0

They're not as good as you, or Experian, think they are!trigga1987 wrote: »applied for a store credit account and new credit card, both which have been declined.

Think about it...do Experian know your salary?...your profession/occupation?...how long you've worked for your employer? etc etc? No they don't.
If you've paid money for your score and rating (as in poor/average/good/etc) then you've wasted it. Sorry to be blunt but those are the facts of the matter.
Being on the Electoral Roll at an address you've only just moved into isn't essential to some lenders because they realise everyone moves at one time or other. They may look at your previous address history and Electoral Roll status. Then again, they may just throw it into their credit score mix and compare it with other elements (such as your existing available credit) and simply decline you. Some one said to me that if im not registered at my new adress on the electoral role, effectively, i dont exist and this could affect my chances. Since you (may have?) paid Experian, have you made use of their free resources?...specifically...

luckily i havnt paid for it, but have done before. Like i said, ive never once had a problem with getting credit, never missed a payment, never had a bad debt so can only assume not being registered on electoral role at my new address is the problem as they cannot find any information about me at this address0
