Advice Required on Importing Nintendo Wii from HongKong

Hi, I am thinking of importing a Nintendo Wii from HongKong (a friend of mine will visit HK soon), and as I have never imported anything before, I am not sure of the process.
I have a few questions
1. Will a HongKong Wii work in UK directly or would it need a converter or something to work?
2. Will any game work on it or will I need to get games from HK?
3. Are there any additional costs I am likely to pay in addition to the cost of the unit itself?
4. Is it legal?

There is a bit here http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=148658, so even though Nintendo aren't as harsh as sony on the importing there are some downers, with lack of warranty been a big one.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0

This site enlightened me on the VC aspect of the console (one of the main reasons why wii is appealing!). Hmmm, I think I'll hold off and buy a UK wii.
