Renewal Rip-OFF

Just renewed my insurance with Crowthorne. They tell you how easy renewal is and encourage you to call their dedicated UK call centre. What they don't tell you is that its a premium rate number. My quick renewal call cost almost £4. No sign on the renewal letter that a quick call will cost. Just glad it wasn't a complex issue that took more than a few minutes

Only yourself to blame I'm afraid. Its quite obvious from looking at any telephone number if its a premium one and it will be somewhere in the small print how much the telephone call is per minute.
Next time you see an 09 number go to SAYNOTO0870 and get a generic number or if you cant find a number, ring them, tell them you wish to take out insurance with them and get them to ring you back. If they want your custom they will.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
But the number on their website ISN'T a premium rate number.
If it really was then they are acting illegally by not declaring it.0 -
It's an 0844 209 number which is a "specialised service".
From a BT line it is g6 charge rate.

Cost is 5.105p per minute with a 11.5p set up fee.

If you google Crowthorne Insurance you will find their geographic number 01344 7716260 -
I suspect the OP called from a mobile phone.
In which case it is the mobile service that is to blame for the high cost mentioned.0 -
I do cringe when I read posts like "You've only got yourself to blame". It indicates that the poster actually views what most of us would like to think is the civilised world as a jungle and not the virtuous place we should all (including businesses be they insurers or phone companies) strive to make it

I like fair play and in this case the OP was blaming the compay which is clearly not the case.
(and I like your user name, sounds apt under the circs;))
What gets to me is that we are living in a world where its always somebody elses fault, nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

www.saynoto0870.com.
OP - take your business elsewhere if you feel a company is ripping you off. Unless, of course, they are £75 cheaper than the next best in which case your £4 is value for money
