So can you just paint straight over this tape, and the tape won't show through? Is it that fine? I always thought that the tape would need skimming over? I have a few fine cracks too that I would like to get rid of.
I have never used that particular tape before, only the stuff like you said that you feather out the edges with filler. My guess is it will show once painted.Best to fill it out with a wet mix of easy fill or dry linning joint cement0 -
Surely another option, if the walls are really bad and constantly cracking, is to affix new plasterboard to the wall/walls, on top of the existing layer of plaster? Then skim over the top of them, and this should be a much better long term plan? But this is a bit more expensive and labour-intensive, even if it will definitely fix the problem...?Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0

I'd be wondering why it was cracking.
My house is old and it has no foundations so moves with the seasons. Cracks are inevitable and, in my my opinion, just add character.
That's what I tell my wife anyway.0
