Well done on your gardening progress EMM , we need piccies :) I also love the smell of freshly cut grass, and my old pooches always roll in it, especially if it's raining :)
Had a really busy week with the Grandkids, so haven't done much house stuff, but these are such precious times, before they turn into teenmonsters :rotfl:

Bathroom has hit snags several times so is still a work in progress (they are coming tomorrow). Always had a toilet and sink to use but have had to use the kitchen sink for the last 3 nights (new one is in place but suppliers sent wrong waste pipe. Mr Builder promised yesterday that I would have hot water but when i went downstairs the boiler was flashing.

Cue much moving of boards and top of large kitchen table so that I could get in the drawer with the book of codes telling me what was wrong. I had shuffled everything as far to that end as possible to accommodate the new bath and panels (for bath and for walls) which arrived on Tuesday. Thankfully most of them are now installed just my stuff (which has no where else to go).

Low water pressure easily fixed then continued to work through the items on that part of the worktop - pots/ cooking trays/ chopping boards (one to cs/ one to Mrs Builder for the woodburner and butchers block to be gently sanded to perfection - used the lemons I bought for cleaning them ? when) / bag of coir compost bought for seeds.

Have re-potted the 3 basil plants bought for 10p each and filled all the mushroom boxes - all outside on the potting tray for now. Various other bits in their proper places. Not yet cleaned (apart from the odd swipe with the mop to clear plaster dust from the floor - spent much more time at source in the front room) but that 1/4 of the kitchen is a lot tidier.

Have spent most of today spending money. Mostly necessary - paint, paint and more paint plus curtains and two new sheets for DS3 (his new bed is a different size and I turned his old ones and four of his t-shirts into rags yesterday).

However I did start the day by buying a bacon butty (there is something about building work that makes one want to eat like a builder). I'd had 2 bananas but was still hungry and the fridge died earlier in the week (was playing up but I turned the setting to make it colder) so no point in buying bacon to make my own.

Ordering the new fridge (and arranging collection of the old one at the same time) was my last purchase of the day but then went on to b n q to look at laminate and then on the builders to ask if they can collect and bring it tomorrow. They chased up laminate man and he came round about 3 pm and has agreed to fit it next week (hopefully Monday) for the grand sum of £60 - I noticed b n q were offering their services for £18 a square metre. Laminate man has no car so asked the builders.

I have bought a purse and socks and knickers. Both have been on my list of things to buy when I was debt free for ages (trying to ration myself to one or two things a month but bought the new quilt and pillows in April so have had two 'cheaper months). I looked at the undies on Wednesday when I went to buy bananas (yoghurts and cheese spread being off the menu until the fridge is replaced) but left them.

Today one of my few remaining pairs of knickers tried to embarrass me in a public place (saved from slipping further by my leggings) so I have two new packs and one of socks (less critical). The 'need for knickers' is a side effect of my weight problems. As I lost weight I threw away old baggy undies and found some in drawer that were barely worn. The 'new' knickers have now been going for about three years. I refused to buy more until I was 'next size down' but I've put weight on and now losing again and some knickers have fallen by the wayside (thankfully not literally to date).

Lots more painting planned over the weekend but just letting my feet recover and enjoying feeling clean. I can use my new bath (the rest will happen).

Candygirl - I`d love to post piccies but I`m still using a `traditional` camera with wind-on film. I do photograph things I make though, especially stuff that is for others as I may need to remind myself how they turned out if I fancy doing similar again sometime.

Mothernerd, I think I`m due for another knicker cull soon too, I buy a few packs at a time and they all seem to give up the will to stay up at the same time.

Chez Emm - No more outdoorsing, 12 hours on the ward yesterday, and a pretty lazy morning today even though I was up early. Then I started feeling like making the most of the time indoors while it`s wet and soggy outside.
What I wanted to do was get on with some sewing, but there was too much clutter for me to put the decorating table up in living room.
I started by just putting stuff away, a general pick-up and tidy, then ended up changing the rugs, Henrying and mopping and now feel very pleased with blitzing hall, LR, kitchen and downstairs loo. I have a new microfibre mop head, and used that for the first time, very pleased with result. Also used Zoflora - `Twilight Garden` flavour - in mop water and loo, and the house smells lovely now.
It didn`t really take long, and it probably won`t last long either if I start sewing this week.
    But for now, it`s nice.
I`m making a couple of mince/onion pasties (to use up mince, & for DS to reheat when he fancies), and have cooked a piece of pork loin to use for quick stirfries in the week. Tonight we`re having YS rack of lamb that I thawed this morning, to make freezer space for the pasties.

I`m trying to keep options open for either more blitzing or sewing or jungle clearance, whichever weather and my mood decides, so not planning any culinary adventures for now.

    Hello everyone.

I started today by getting the thing I wanted to do least out of the way, steam cleaning the rabbit lino. I've also done a couple of loads of laundry and a bit of general tidying. This afternoon I want to do a bit of batch cooking. Just having a cup of tea now though.

    Have a good week.

I `m recovering from a morning out at the shops! Like you, Alec E this was the thing I least wanted to do, but needed to do this week so got it out of the way.
Tesco - had £50 worth (when doubled) of vouchers to use before deadline, plus some due to expire, so reckoned a Monday morning would be quieter. I rarely go there now, and was quite pushed to find stuff I really needed or liked a lot. Ended up with some trousers, shorts, couple of tops, and knicker packs. I was £1 over, so not a bad price for that haul, especially as it was `use it or lose it`.
Then the bank, sorted finances and checked a couple of things there, then Morrisons, more vouchers to use up.
I`ve put shopping away and got a WM load on.
Stirfry pork with hoisin tonight, and plenty of time for some sewing.
Goals for this afternoon: unpick an old favourite top that`s got paint on it, cut pattern from it (£1/metre fabric I bought for patterns), maybe cut a `real` top from that, and make a couple of pinnies from the odd pieces I bought last week.My current pinny is a disgrace, no use either as I`m too ashamed to wear it. It`s beyond laundering. Bad Emm....

Emm, it seems that you never stop!

I can't think of anything to double my Tesco vouchers on. I was hoping to get one of those little rechargeable vacuum cleaners, but they were too dear. Our nearest big Tesco is not that big. I wonder if a Tesco extra would have a better choice.

My local Tesco is a big one, Pol, recently re-fangled, now with a cafe and all. I know you are within travelling distance, don`t know if you`ve been in since the revamp, but I`m not impressed, rarely go there these days. Seems like there`s less good buys than before. Clothes and kitchen stuff disappointing really.

I do stop, but then it`s getting started that`s my problem, it always has been. Didn`t do as much as I wanted yesterday, but I did get a couple of striped linen pinnies made and unpick the top - unpicking took ages, and made my hands ache, so I stopped after that.
I will make a start on something today. Just waiting for morning lethargy to wear off.

Yes, we'll have to make a trip. I did get a decent pair of shorts from there last year. They're too big now, though!

I want to go to the Thai shop so it'll be soon. Can't go tomorrow as having the hall and living room carpets cleaned, so windows will be open.

Pol, re Thai shop - I`d ring them first if I were you, make sure they are open when you intend going (266586). The noodle bar always seems to be open, but a few months ago DGD wanted to get stuff from the shop and it was closed a couple of times, once was a Saturday afternoon! There was a notice in the window to make an appointment if closed, they would open! It seemed a bit odd, maybe they were short in the noodle bar and quiet in the shop. Well worth a browse when they are open though.

    Ok, thanks.

Just cleared most of the living room for carpet guy. The book cases are staying, as is the chesterfield. Rooms look so much better when uncluttered.
