Free Solar Panels?

I've seen lots of advertising recently for companies offering free solar panels. It seems like a good idea, considering we have a south facing roof and live right on the south coast (so plenty of sunshine
)!
My understanding is that the company will install and maintain the panels, but will take any income from the Feed In Tariff for 25 years. So no initial outlay, but no return except reduced energy bills.
Does anyone have any experience of this type of scheme? How much energy does it actually generate? What is the installation like?
