Help - my freezer seems to have failed!

After a rare lie in this morning, I've gone downstairs to make a cup of coffee. The freezer's motor is very loud, and the warning light and fast freeze light are both on, in addition to the mains light.
My first thought was that the kids haven't closed the door properly, but the door was closed. When I opened the freezer, everything has started to defrost (so I'll be cooking lots of food today!)
Obviously the motor is noisy as it is trying hard to keep everything frozen, but I don't know why it is like this. Has it just failed completely?
It is a Proline frost free freezer, five drawers plus a shelf at the top. It's quite old, probably about eight years. I've always kept it in the same position in the kitchen, except for moving it once last year (it was moved two feet to the right). I've never had any problems with it before, but I can't find the booklet that came with it all those years ago. I am going to search the Comet site now, though, in case there is an online version.
Thanks for any help.

It could have de-gassed itself. If it has, you need an engineer to come out to repair and re-gas.
I would go and buy a AAA economy freezer and get the old one collected and correctly disposed of.What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
