hi! Can anybody tell me please if a gas/electricity supplier must write first if increasing its charges and if an objection to that letter prompts the price to remain fixed. thank you.

In terms of cancelling increases, that just isn't going to happen. Otherwise we would all be on very cheap gas and electricity.

They have to tell you within 90 days of the increase (due to be cut to 30 days). You can reject the increase but only by saying you are going to change supplier which you must then do straight away.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

My understanding is that OFGEM review of the market is changing the rules on suppliers telling customer about price increases and the rules are changing from 90 to 30 days.Clarified first sentence a bit.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I am pretty sure they are changing to 30 days advance notice of an increase rather than decreasing the after-the-fact period from 90 to 30 days. I could be wrong, though. Or not.My understanding is that OFGEM review of the market is changing the rules on suppliers telling customer about price increases and the rules are changing from 90 to 30 days.0
