from 6p - 20p per battery, depending on quantity ordered.

OP, what's your gripe. It's pennies for goodness sake.

I would have hoped that even paying pennies for the batteries they would last a lot longer than 3 days.

If they cost 10p each that means it would cost over £10 in batteries for a year

The original battery that was in the thermometer lasted more than a year.

It is the batteries that I was sold that are crap, I tried them in another device I had and they only lasted 2 weeks, the original batteries lasted 2 years. That device uses 6 AG13 batteries at a time.

Well OP, I can only suggest that you try different brands then. There are literally dozens of sources online. Instead of posting on here - get looking!

What is the title of this forum again?

I know exactly what the title of this forum is . . . as believe it or not I am in possession of one of the traditionally recognised senses, i.e: sight.

If everyone who visited Praise, Vent, and Warnings started threads about the like of batteries costing pennies then space would be at a premium for much more important (and interesting) articles about much bigger fish to fry.

How many minutes/hours have you wasted on here venting your indignation about a paltry battery? . . . 5 for a £1 from most £1 shops.

As long as I feel like.

How many minutes/hours have you wasted on here replying to my posts?

Your posts were not even helpful.

    But I answered your questions.

You don't have to read my posts and waste your time if you don't want to, but I suppose you will have to get the last post in?

Bumping up your post count so you can post links?

One of the advantages of being retired is, if I want, that I can spend all day on here moaning about crappy batteries I bought for 5 for a £1.

My God, are you still here . . . . with your thermos flask and sleeping bag.

PM me your address and I will gladly mail you a grand selection of said batteries for your testing of duration (no doubt with a calendar and stopwatch to hand). Maybe then you can get a good nights sleep.

As for 'bumping up my post count' . . . how petty! I have no interest in posting threads, unless they are of the magnitude that affect 100's or 1,000's . . . . not a battery!

As for 'getting the last post in' . . . that would be impossible whilst you are entrenched here, avidly awaiting further posts you can deride.

Gardening, fishing, day trips, etc, are all good activities for retired folk . . . aren't they Mr Meldrew.

So why are you posting to this thread then?

    I meant posting NEW threads.

I have nothing more to say on the matter . . . I'm going to bed, which is where you should be now.

I have said my piece and shall not darken this thread again. This is supposed to be a serious forum you know.

Possibly, but why should I buy a new one when the one I have is perfectly satisfactory and has been for years.

It is the batteries that I bought from Poundland and the Internet to save money which are crap, not the thermometer.

I paid £2 for a battery from Asda, lets hope my one £2 battery lasts a lot longer than the 20 batteries I bought for £3 from poundland and an amazon seller on the internet.

So if anyone asks me if the inexpensive batteries that you can buy on the internet are any good I will reply with a resounding NO! Same with poundland batteries.

well thts £5 spent, more than the one i linked to

To be fair, you had nothing to say in the first place, and you've done a good job of saying it.

Your first reply contained an obvious error that made you look foolish. You've subsequently got more and more abusive to the OP. Can't stand to be wrong, eh?

Look foolish? Me? I was only trying to help the OP. I think you will find that you can recharge cell type batteries, although its not recommended. Try googling it.

As for being abusive, I was merely ribbing the OP a little due to his condescending attitude towards other posters.

People do try to help others on here you know, but if the OP used his time more wisely online instead of being camped on here for several days, then I'm sure he would have found an adequate solution earlier.

As I said before, this is meant to be a serious forum not cluttered up with trivia such as this.

No offence meant, and that really is my last word on the matter.
