I have seen from a few comments that the cashback from Barclays £125 maybe a bit of a problem in getting.
Yesterday my mother and I decided to do three short internet quotes on www.quidco.com for house insurance.
I was looking for House Buildings up to £199000 with Accidental Damage
and Home Contents up to £40000 without Accidental Damage SM4 4RP 3bedroom end of Terrace house. No additional cover like freezer, garden, bike was required. All approved locks. No burglar alarm but smoke alarms (and gas carbon monoxide detector)
Also Legal Cover to be added All excess set to £50
Quote 1-Using the Lloyds link the quote came to £215.79 (inc £25k of Legal)
So if the £120 cashback was paid the actual total would be £95.79pa
Quote 2-Using the MotorquoteDirect link the quote came to £127.35(inc £25k
of Legal)
So if the £40 cashback was paid the actual total would be £87.35pa
Quote 3-Barclays only want to quote for contents at £58pa and have asked the customer to phone should they require buildings insurance.
I was not tempted to go for this and wait for the £125 cashback to be paid.
I also note that some people are saying that by splitting both insurances with two companies they should get two cashbacks.I really can't see that the cashbacks will always be paid especially if they are giving you one year's insurance and £60+.Some lucky ones will say they got it though.
MotorDirect quote is a solution that may work for my mother. It does not necessarily work for others, as insurance has alot of factors before a quote is reached. Finally cashback is not guaranteed.
The Legal Cover of £25k is a little low and I did remember getting £50k direct from Liverpool and Victoria and few years ago for around £15.Need to work on that .Any ideas would be grateful.

I can confirm this is definitely the case. I have now helped my father and several friends with their home insurance and have advised them all to split the contents and buildings between 2 companies who are on Quidco (they ahve all gone for LloydsTSB and Barclays). Result? £245 cashback. LloydsTSB had a fearsomly bad rep for tracking on Quidco but IME recently has tracked within a couple of hours. Barclays is more problematic but seems to track in exactly 7 days but do watch out for it not tracking and be preapred to cancel the policy during the cooling off period and go elsewhere.
My father is actually beind PAID almost £60 to insure his house this year!
Please note: If you haven't made a claim during your current home insurance policy, there is normally no penalty charged for cancelling it (and then getting on Quidco!!) but do check with your company first. Plus, if you are cancelling, I would advise cancelling it from a date at least 7 days in the future so as to give your self plenty of time to get another one sorted.
Edit: same goes for car insurance, but it is really dependant on you already having the maximum no claims bonus.0 -
Yes its worth splitting the insurance, i got 2 policys with Barclays (B+C) and they have both paid out, and also got my dads insurance with Barclays and split the policys (B+C) and they have also both paid out.
I have also gone with Zurich for another friend and split it and got 2 lots of £80 plus 2 M+S vouchers worth £20 each on each policy
Any yes they will still pay out even if they end up paying you, its all about marketing and market share and they are hoping you stay the following year/s0 -
However....
If you need to make a claim you may have to deal with two companies. So if someone broke a window to get in (buildings) then stole your TV (contents) you've got two companies, two claims, two lots of hassle.
There are also grey areas which are sometimes buildings, sometimes contents, so you may find you don't have cover for these...
Enjoy spending the money though!!0 -

Whilst I'm not entirely sure you are correct here, even if that WAS the case, I think I'll risk it for £245 per year savings. :money:0 -
You can get the policys with the same company just split the cover and buy seperately from the same company that what ive done0
