broadband activated - what now?

just got email from Virgin that my BB has been activated.

all i want at the moment is to plug the router in the wall and use my laptop wirelessly as i dont want to set up my pc aswell yet.

Gonna get the ADSL Netgear router, what's the basic setup procedure for this??

    it should come with instructions, but generally it's pretty easy anyway.

    1) Plug router into wall/phone line.
    2) Plug lappy into router via ethernet patch cable.
    3) Go to the router's IP in internet explorer (often 192.168.0.1 by default)
    4) Set up the wireless. (normally only a couple of options)
    edit: need to set up internet connection here too!
    5) Unplug the patch cable and off you go

    sorry, just realised no router till sunday ...

    is there a temp way to access internet tonight even using a cable or do i need modem etc??

    Quite a few people have usb modems sitting in boxes in the loft (courtesy bt/tiscali etc), ask among your mates and I'm sure someone will have one.

    For dial-up yes but not suitable for BB.
