Sarking boards for fencing?

We've got 3 quotes for new garden fencing, the cheapest quote is using 150mm x 19mm treated sarking boards with a 75mm x 32mm backing rail. Sarking boards seem to be mainly for loft flooring. Please can anyone advise for or against its use for fencing? Many thanks.

Probably just a generic term the fencer is using for wooden boards. he's basically describing a standard close boarded fence. For the most part softwood is softwood, whether you cut it into planks and call it sarking board or fencing board - its the same wood! As long as it is treated on all 4 sides with a quality preservative, then you will be fine.
If you have any worries, why not ask him to show you an example of his work, or even just to point to a fence in the neighbourhood that is the same as he intends to build.
