Waterloo East station
Options
I have never used Waterloo East station, and wanted to know, as I have difficulty in mobility, how far it would be to go from the rail platform to the Jubilee platform of Southwark station. I would normally alight at London Bridge, but sometime it may be more convenient to use Waterloo East.
Your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

About 150 metres from the National rail platform exit, judging from the photos on google maps and the station plan.0

Thanks. I never thought of google maps,0 -
The access from Waterloo East is by a long ramp and Tunnel to gain access to the upper concourse and escalators at Waterloo Main. Don't know how this will play on your mobility problem !You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

You can plan your route from platform to underground (or any point within the station using the national rail stations made easy feature), for example in this case of Waterloo East the link is:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/sjp/WAE/stationSearch.xhtml
If you want to look at the routes within any other National Rail network station just change the three letters in the above link to the appropriate three digit station reference. Or select on the website.
I've used it many times to look for quick routes between platforms when trying to make a tight connection.0 -
Waterloo East has direct access to Southwark station - It's fully accessible (including lifts down to the Jubilee line platforms) and is probably, in fact, a better connection than London Bridge for mobility impaired people - especially as outside the peaks its significantly less busy!0

Is that right???
I would have to find the time to explore Waterloo East. I normally change at London Bridge for the Jubilee line to Green Park. I am not, BTW, a wheelchair user. I am recovering from multiple fractures to my legs and pelvis, following an accident where a van drove over my lower half after falling off my motorbike on a dual-carriageway. I can walk, but I find it difficult and extremely painful, so if I can find a better way to interchange, I can save my energy and manage my pain better.0 -
Thanks Mike1901 and OP,
My husband is an occasional wheelchair user, (M/Cycle accident bu$$ered knee), will need to use Waterloo East later this year. this info is magic.
