Question - I did all my washing on 30 till a few weeks ago, when I saw an ep of 'How Clean is Your House?' and they told a woman that because she'd been washing her smalls on 30, it's not enough to kill all bacteria. Eurgh! Is this true? I've been using 40 ever since. :)
As posted above 40 will be little different to 30 as far as bacteria are concerned. The problem is that, if you wash your “smalls” at 60 or more to kill the bugs they will shrink and really will be smalls. Put your Bridget Jones big pants on a boil wash and they will come out as thongs.

You could buy disposable paper knickers but they are not very sexy or environmentally friendly so I suggest you go back to washing at 30 and stop worrying about bacteria. Maybe the bacteria will drown in the water anyway.:rotfl:

I've been washing my clothes at 0 for about 10 years and they still come out clean.

Well judging by your avatar, you're probably a goth. Which means you wear black all the time, so how can you tell if your clothes are clean or not??? :D

  • They say to wash your bedding at 60 to kill all the bacteria!!!!!!

How can doing a pre-wash with no powder at 30 then a wash at 30 with powder save on money? Would one wash at 40 not be more sensible?

Phosphates are linked with powder and liquid is said to be better for the environment.

See webpage for tips and hints.

Hi Viking...most of my clothes washing is done 'cold'.
Possible bugs are dealt with in the freezer...
