I've finally got my first portfolio piece done, thanks to a friendly MSE'r.
So I'm feeling a bit more positive about the whole thing. Plus, all the supportive comments and tips here have helped a lot too.
Btw, I don't think anyone has mentioned IE Netrenderer yet. I'm finding it *very* useful for free IE screenshots. It covers IE 5.5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

I can't begin to convey how much I dislike IE.
