Hi, could they have been using the key meter to recover outstanding debts?0
-
Have you tried asking Npower what the outstanding amount is for?0

:eek:I would call Npower and see if this bill is for monies owned before you went on the meter. I personally would not pay anything till they tell you what period this charge is for.0

It may also be that they've used an estimated final read that is too high. In that case they shouldn't bill you, as it's a prepayment meter but I've heard of it happening before. Probably due to a glitch in the billing systems rather than anything sinister, so again, asking them about it would sound the best plan...I am an employee of British Gas, however the views expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of Centrica, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies.0

I would say nine times out of ten these balances are not enforcable they can be anything from incorrect reads to the meter set at wrong prices if it hasnt picked up a price change or so on.As been said before this is usually a 2 minute phonecall in all honesty0
