Capital one transfer

My wife tried to apply for a new credit card, with the idea of transferring her credit to another bank and taking advantage of their 0% interest rate lasting 16/17 months. She is currently with Capital One, and owes about £1400, and wanted to pay the loan off before the 0% rate expired, but no-one will accept her. She has tried Nationwide, MBNA, NatWest, etc, all to no avail. Could it be her low income ? She earns about £12000 per annum. Any ideas anyone, as to what she could do ?

Has she checked her credit record to make sure there are no adverse postings on there, or does she currently have any other loans etc?

Thanks for that, she has never checked her credit rating, as she has never felt the need, this is the only card she has had. What would be the best way to check it, I,m sorry if I seem a bit vague, but this is all new to us. Thanks.

Maybe too many applications in too short a time. Looks bad to potential lenders.
