Arrangement to pay on Equifax report (Lloyds CC)

  • An AP or arrangement to pay is not looked on at all as badly as a Default or CCJ, in a years time it wont be an issue so just get on with it and save some money, pay off some more debt and dont take out any more finance, simples.
  • Just to confirm mate. I have got my Equifax £2 report and it is showing as:

"Arrangement to pay" in red since January.

as you say, would have been nice to have been told by Lloyds TSB that this would be marked on my credit file but obviously they have not bothered. I guess you could add a note of correction to it, if you really wanted. Doubt they will remove it. No entirely sure what you (or indeed I) would put on the note of correction.

Arrangement to pay possibly won't be frowned upon as badly as a default or arrears as its shown you have taken some action. Would suggest not putting additional notes on is the best approach also.

    Hello,

I'm just going through the paperwork now.

THe number I got through on when I had the initial conversation was the regular collections number. I think because you have to go through the automated system and enter your account number that way, the system recognises your account is in arrears and directs you to the relevant department.

I had a letter to confirm what we'd discussed (still looking for, and will get back to you when I find it - it didn't say much.

Other than that I have not had any further conversations with them on the phone. The number I was given a couple of days ago was 0845 600 4593.

They are ***king devious when it comes to AP on your file. In all good faith you call up and speak to them.

In my recent history with a loan, where I called up said bank and said I couldent pay on the 17th and would pay on the 30th, they agreeded that this could happen.

But they never said this would be an arrangement to pay and would affect my credit file.

They then said that I could extend my loan agreement and change the monthly payment. They agreement was never extended as I have original paperwork and the loan amount never changed but they have put AP all over my file. Its weird as it goes AP, 0, 0, AP, AP.

They dont care and as I have found it will take ages to sort out. Techincally it is an arrangement to pay, but I would have been better not get a 1 on my file rather than an AP.

You think that by calling them and speaking to them it would make a difference, I found out hard way.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.

That thread is a pretty good find cg81, although it doesn't fill me with confidence! I'm on hold now.

I was really hoping to clear off a big chunk in the next few months with all the overtime I've been doing as well as other income I'm bringing (mystery shopping, ebay etc) and then apply for a 0% balance transfer - MBNA currently don't want to know. Fat chance of that happening now!

That articule is somewhat right, I have one account that was an AP and I also have another that went to 6 (long story and it took me 3 years to get it sorted).

These are still on my file with the AP being in 2009 when loan settled.

Now 2 years on, and having used Vanquis and Capital One CC I have started to move up in eyes of credit.

I had £500 c/l on vanquis and £500 on Capone. DDs set up to pay the min, but I mostly paid it off in full.

I then got approved for a barclaycard with 2k limit has actually gone up to 2.5k last week again DD setup to pay min balance, and just recently approved for a halifax card with a 4.5k c/l.

So in the eyes of my credit its getting better. I still cannot get a high street mortgage even with not missing a payment for 3 years and over 60% equity in the house.

It will take time with AP but its achievable.

  • I'd say you won't get anywhere on the phone. Best put something in writing to them. Everything they tell you on the telephone conflicts with statements and letters.

Yes, Ive made a couple of token calls to chase things up but I'm not really any further forward with things. Arrangement to pay isn't the worst scenario I don't think but would have been good for them to say that up front.

You are right. 22 minutes on my mobile to an 0845 number, to be put on hold for her to confirm that yes, it does affect the credit rating (which we knew already).

She apologised and said there was nothing they can do. She said she would log a complaint on the system. I asked what should I do next regarding complaint, and she said "continue making the payments".

Time for a written letter of complaint. I'm going to read your thread again for inspiration!
