First Utility Smart Meter

First Utility have offered to install a smart meter in my flat. If I agree does this tie me in to staying with them as my gas and electricity provider? I did ask them but the answer was it depends on your new provider....

If they fit it then they will be your provider. When I went with them it was a 12 month contract with a 60.00 early cancellation fee for each fuel. A smart meter is of limited benefit for end users certainly not worth paying higher rates for.0
