Does anyone know the opening hours of supermarkets on Christmas Eve?

As per the question

A long shot I know

We will be arriving by air at Gatwick after 5pm on Christmas Eve

We want to buy some things from the supermarket or other store after we land due to the liquid and hand baggage restrictions
An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

Hi - I work in a supermarket. The shops applied for an extension to trading hours for the 24th (as it falls on a Sunday) however that was rejected (hurrah for us shop workers, boo hoo for us shoppers!). That is the case in N.Ireland and I understand it to be the same in England. I can't comment on the normal smaller shops and off licences but should imagine that most of them will be open their own normal Sunday hours which are usually longer than the big supermarket and shopping centre hours.

    Hi CCstar :)

I'll move this one across to where all the shopping experts hang out - Shop But Don't Drop.

Good luck, and have a nice Christmas :)

By the time you get out of the airport I would imagine it will be gone 6, and not sure you'll find anywhere open on Xmas eve.

That being said, Tesco Express open until 11pm on Sundays, so if the above poster is right, then you'll be okay at an express. The closest one to Heathrow is:

    BATH ROAD HOUNSLOW EXPRESS,
    780-790 Bath Road
    Hounslow
    London
    TW5 9SL

Probably worth giving them a call to find out!

Other than that it's just going to be a petrol garage!

You could try ordering on line to friends or families houses for the morning you arrive back and then you collect off them

dont know what it is you want to buy ccstar but the liquid and hand baggage restrictions only apply before you go through security and most airports have shops well after that point so maybe you can pick up what you need then?

    Going anywhere nice? :)
