Entitled to website

Hi.

Can you guys pls confirm this.

I did a check on the site and i seem to be entitled to quite a bit.

Single parent with 2 kids.
Council tax of £1200
working 16-29hrs a week
no earnings last year
rent is £104 a week (i have just put in the lha rate)
earnings this year £4992

The site says my entitlement is £320.77 per week. Now if i add my earnings ontop of that i make it £416 per week, take out of that £17 a week it says i would have to pay in rent and also £5.23 in council tax, i make it i would have 394 pounds left after rent and council tax is paid.

Is that correct..?

Comments

  • It sounds almost right, but the contribution (£17) for rent sounds low.
Under similar circumstances, i paid £50 rent and £20 CT a week. Im in council housing though, so might be different.
  • On second thoughts, i dont think youve taken the CT and HB off the final figure. This would mean you would more like likely be left with around £280 a week. That sounds more like it :)

400 a week left after rent and council tax - what!!
My husband works full time and I work 20 hours a week by the time we pay rent, council tax and childcare we have no where near that amount left. Has this society seriously come to being better off single?? Please please tell me the above is wrong or Im seriously going to think about chucking him out

Well that is what i thought but it actually says you will have to pay £17 per week housing benefit.

That is what has led me to post as i am not sure if i am reading it correctly.

    think you are right here

    total benefits per week £320 + income £96 = £416 as stated
rent to pay £104 + council tax £23 = £127 (amounts from CT benefit and housing benefit + own contribution from income)
    remaining after rent/ctax = £289

    Means-tested bill reductions

    Entitlement Per year Per Week

    Council Tax Benefit £926 £17.70
Your full Council Tax bill of £22.95 per week will be reduced to £5.23 per week because of your entitlement to Council Tax Benefit. Our calculation is based on you receiving £74.06 from working tax credit and an Income of £108.29 from child tax credit.

    Housing Benefit £4,548.64 £87

We have calculated your entitlement using the Local Housing Allowance rate you entered. LHA rates change every month so please return to the calculator regularly to check your entitlement. Our calculation is based on you receiving £74.06 from working tax credit and an Income of £108.29 from child tax credit.

I have copied this from the site. As it comes under entitlement i thought it meant i was entitled to it.?

you won't actually get the council tax benefit as a payment - it will be deducted from your bill so they will take the £1200 bill and reduce it by £926
you will get the housing benefit of £87 per week and be expected to add £17 to it and pay your £104 rent
