Reasonable time for repair

My husband was involved in an accident on 19th Feb. (not his fault)

The car was still driveable although the damage to the door meant that when you drove over 40mph you couldnt hear yourself think from the noise!

Insurers were unable to take car for repair until the 17th March.

Car was picked up and we were left with an OK car albeit small! (Chrysler).

Nationwide are the repairers and the car was suppose to be with us on 4th April. We have called them daily and basically been told "few more days", their online "tracker" tells us we should have had the car back 4th April, but today we are told that it will be "sometime next week".

Not the end of the world but is it a case of waiting?

The car is probably sat stripped down in a bodyshop waiting for an extra part so there is probably no other option but to wait. You have been given a replacement car so if it is a courtesy car there is no problem, if it is a hire car then as long as the hire costs can be recovered from the third party you are ok. Personally I would always go for a courtesy car and wouldn't touch a hire car with a barge pole unless the insurance specified 'free hire car' and didn't put a time limit on the 'free' hire.
  • Hello i m new to this forum..Glad to join it..
  • You should contact the company who arranged the hire car and repairs. Ask what is the stage of the repair.
If you get a unsatisfactury answer you should speak to a manager or get the telephone person to phone the repairers to see what is happening with the car, they should then call you back with a technical answer.
Explain to them that you are still with the courtesy car.
As the last person stated, you have been given a courtesy car and should not worry, however you should therefore not give up the courtesy car, even if they want it back, until you have your car back.
