System Interrupt Controller

Hi,
I reformatted my PC a few days back and since then it's popped up when I switch on with the 'found new hardware', it says 'System Interrupt controller', I tell it to install automatically but it says it can't because there's no drivers.
Device manager says -
'system interrupt controller'
Device Type : Other devices
Manufacturer: Unknown
Location: PCI bus 0, device 0, function 5
I haven't installed any new hardware and I haven't attached any new devices so I have no idea why it keeps trying to install this, I don't even know what it is.
So my question is, how do I find out what it's trying to install so I can either take it out or install the correct drivers.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

A System Interrupt Controller is the part of your hardware that controls requests from external devices and suchlike to interrupt the current program being executed so that they can perform some function.
As such, it's part of your PC and the driver(s) for it will be on your PC manufacturer's set up disks or will be downloadable from their website. Either download the latest set of drivers or tell the Hardware Wizard to look on your PC set-up disk for the driver, if you have one.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
My pc wasn't built by a specific manufacturer so I can't go to the site and down load the drivers. Neither do I have a set up disk.
Should the driver be on the mother board disc?Sigless0 -
Thanks. I have the motherboard disk so I'll give that a try now. PS. What drivers will it be with? the chip set drivers?Sigless0

Tried installing the drivers using the disc, says cannot install hardware because the wizard cannot find the necessary softwareSigless0

Have a look at the disk using explorer first. You may have to point to a specific directory. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

If you can't find the right driver using Explorer, just work your way through each directory on the disk in the Hardware Installation Wizard.
Browse to the first likely directory in the Wizard. If the driver isn't found, click the Back button in the Wizard window and browse to the next and try it and so on.0 -
See the problem is I have no idea what driver I'm looking for. There is a drivers folder on the disc, I pointed it to there and it said the software's not in there.Sigless0

Think its sorted. I reinstalled my chip set drivers and restarted, next time it popped up it it found the drivers.
Thanks for the help.Sigless0
