Is the expense warranted by the quality and value of the bath?

    Hi

I don't know for sure but I think there are companies that will remove a layer of enamel on a bath rather than re-enamel it, must be cheaper and supposedly looks as good as new.

A standard 5' enamelled steel bath is less than £100.

There has to be something special about the bath to warrant the work of removing it, shipping it to be de- or re-enamelled, and then re-fitting it.

It would need to be vintage, or interesting in some other way!

    Precisely

It needs to be taken out & shipped off. You cannot enamel a bath on-site

I had a bath re-enameled on site in my last house. It was an old cast bath & it was a similar price to have it re-enamelled on site as against replacing it.

I was stunned. The finish was totally, absolutely stunning! It was money well spent & I wouldn't hesitate to do it again & the warranty (if memory serves me right) was either 5 or 10 years BUT not transferable.

Honestly, I couldn't praise it enough. It was like a brand new bath.
  • I have also had this done on site for approx £100 although it was a while ago, the results were brilliant and I lived in the house another 2 years and there ws no sign of wear.

Ive used one of these http://tubbyuk.com/tubby_extra_DIY_enamel_bath_resurfacing_kit.htm
some years ago now but found it suited my needs well, there were clear instructions on what to do through the process.
Ive got to say though for a really good finish it'll take a couple of days sanding - filling - priming etc.
I took 3 days in total, took my time yeah but the effect was excellent, well impressed.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful
