Can I buy a hood for a buggy / pushchair that didn't come with one?

My old faithful buggy at last gave up the ghost a few days ago, and so I've now got a 'spare' one from my parents.
The only problem with it is that it doesn't have a hood. You can see a pic here.
My question is, has anyone seen a generic after-market hood that I can attach to the buggy? I've looked at the 'Summer Infant Rayshade' but it seems that this is only suitable for buggies that already have a hood.
Thanks!

The problem you are going to have is finding a hood that fits the same shape and size chassis then ordering it from a supplier.
Would you not be better spending the money on a new buggy with a hood you can get them for about £30 ?
EDIT: even better look on freecycle for used buggy and it won't cost a thing

I was thinking more along the lines of a generic one - one clamp each side with a flexible hoop, that sort of thing.
I will look on freecycle, though.“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” - Lao Tzu

and they do a hood for it which cost £19.99

so maybe worth going in there with buggy and seeing if it fit's.0 -

Depends on how much longer you need the buggy for.
If you are needing it for a year, I would suggest going on ebay and getting a good quality Maclaren Techno XT second hand.
They go for really low prices and are fantastically sturdy. I am into my 8th year of mine and it has never let me down. Only terrain it won't do is sand!0 -

That was a very good spot, and I've been to Mothercare today. Had a look at their Jive and it is very similar. I bought the accessory pack and the hood fits perfectly. Also, as an added bonus, the rain cover also fits perfectly.
So thanks a lot for the tip.valkirn wrote:Ebay has a mamu hood in black for £3.99 with £3 postage

Thanks, saw that, but unfortunately it doesn't specify which buggy it's for.Counting_Pennies wrote:If you are needing it for a year, I would suggest going on ebay and getting a good quality Maclaren Techno XT second hand.

Thanks for the tip, I'll remember that Techno XT. The other sun shade from Amazon says it can be used without a hood, but in the comments some commenters mention that you do need a hood after all.
